Privacy Policy
Effective 24 August 2026. This policy covers the ScentMe iPhone app and this website.
The short version: ScentMe works fully without an account, and when you do sign in we collect only what the account features need to operate. We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or any form of cross-app or cross-site tracking.
Using ScentMe without an account
The catalog is bundled inside the app. Browsing it, searching it, and saving perfumes to your shelf all work on your device without an account and without a connection. If you never sign in, we hold no personal information about you.
When the app is online it refreshes the catalog from our server. That request carries no account identifier.
What we collect when you sign in
- Email address
- Provided when you create or sign in to an account with Apple, Google, or email. Used to identify your account and contact you about it. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your address, we only ever receive Apple's relay address.
- Account identifier
- A random identifier that links your shelf and community activity to your account.
- Profile details
- A display name, handle, short bio and avatar, only if you choose to set up a community profile. Your email address is never shown to other members.
- Saved perfumes
- Which products you saved, so the shelf follows your account to another device.
- Community content
- Posts, comments, product feedback and ratings you write, and reports you submit about other content.
- Support feedback
- The message you send us, plus the app version, iOS version and device model, so we can reproduce what you describe.
What we never do
- We do not use third-party analytics, attribution, or crash-reporting SDKs.
- We do not use advertising networks, and we do not build advertising profiles.
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we request no tracking permission.
- We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers.
- We do not access your contacts, photo library, location, microphone, or camera.
Sponsored placements
ScentMe may show a sponsored placement on its Discover screen. These are booked directly with us, are always labelled as sponsored, and are scheduled on our server. They are not targeted, personalised, or selected using anything about you, and they carry no impression or click tracking. Every member sees the same placement.
Who processes your information
We use Supabase to host our database, authentication and file storage. Supabase processes the information above on our instructions as our service provider.
When you choose Apple or Google, that provider authenticates you and returns your email address and, if available, a name and avatar. When you use email sign-in, Supabase securely handles your authentication credentials. Your use of Apple or Google is governed by their own privacy policies. ScentMe never receives your Apple or Google password.
This website is hosted by Hostinger. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
Legal bases
Where the GDPR or a comparable law applies, we rely on: performance of a contract, for the account features you asked for; our legitimate interests, for keeping the community safe and preventing abuse; and your consent, where you volunteer optional content such as a bio or a review.
How long we keep it
Account information is kept while your account is open. When you ask us to delete it (see below), we act within 30 days.
Moderation records — reports, decisions, and the reason recorded for each — are kept after an account closes so that our safety decisions remain reviewable. They are stripped of the identifiers that link them to a person.
Deleting your account
You can start deletion inside the app, from the Profile tab. Deletion is scheduled immediately and completes after a 30-day grace period, during which you can cancel it by signing back in.
When it completes, your account, email address, profile, saved shelf and block list are erased. Posts, comments and product feedback you wrote remain in the community without your name attached, so conversations other members took part in stay readable. If you want that content removed as well, delete it in the app before you delete your account, or ask us and we will do it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal information, to object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. Saudi residents have these rights under the Personal Data Protection Law.
Write to us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days. We do not charge for this and will not treat you differently for asking.
Children
ScentMe is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
International transfers
Our service providers may process information outside your country. Where required, transfers are made under appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Security
All traffic uses HTTPS. Access to your data is enforced at the database level, so one member cannot read another's private records. Staff access is limited to named accounts holding an explicit role, and every staff action against member content is recorded.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will update the effective date above and notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
